Mid Century Modern Restorations
Posted on April 21st, 2015
With the rising popularity of Mid Century furniture we are increasingly coming across items that need leather restoration or re-upholstery. Here are a few examples:
This modular mid century couch has been completely re-upholstered in a natural aniline leather and then hand dyed to the customer’s requirements.
4 Mart Stam Chairs with split seams and rotten stitching
The stitching has given way and the leather is ripped, but the patina of the leather is great and it would be terrible to replace it.
The leather was all removed and reinforced with canvas before new stitching to match the old.
Now completely usable and looking great!
A Milo Baughman rocking chair arrives without a cushion
Our client asks for a new cushion in a yellow aniline leather. We used a beautiful natural hide hand dyed and then brushed to produce a beautiful brushed aniline finish… It’s certainly eye-catching!
A Cassina couch in highly sun-faded tan aniline.
Our client asked if we could dye it black for him, here is the result.
